Bauvur

The Mountain Spirit

A silent mountain spirit who gently tends to the flora and fauna of the snowy mountains of the Ander-Petris mountain range. Crowned council of the hidden stars, Bauver is a warm friend to those who seek him out.

The Power

A naturalist style sketch image depicting a large furry Monster with reindeer style antlers, long thin chicken feet, and a whispy, limp tail. The monster has small wings on their shoulders, and has long flowing hair that runs down its body. Its head is adorned with the aforementioned antlers, two large floppy ears, and a halo

It is said that the first flowers bloomed under Bauver’s clawed feet. Even here in the frozen mountains, plantlife and animals seem to sprout from the ground itself as Bauver makes his way through the ancient pathways he knows by heart.

His long silky-white fur is photophobic, with light rolling down it like rain in the brightness of the day and shimmering into invisibility in the darkness of night. Only the hidden stars reveal Bauver’s true shape, and they listen only to his calls.

People

Easily one of the most popular Monsters in Ald-Amura, Bauver is celebrated as far afield as The Burning Seas, but only here in Ander-Petris is there a true relationship between the people and the Monster. Only here are the names of the secret stars known, and only here do they speak Bauver’s words during funerals.

Carvings of Bauver, shorn from the local crystals, are an incredibly common trinket to bring back from one’s travels to the area. One of the most popular paintings in all of Ald-Amura is of Bauver, standing upright and noble, surrounded by his stars and bordered with an abundance of flowers and critters.

Notable History

The first sighting of Bauver is a common bedtime story for children across all Ald-Amura. It recounts a tale of lost travelers whose journey leads them to a forbidden grove. There they fall asleep and lose themselves in a strange realm, only to be led out by twinkling starlight and a glimmering figure. In some versions of the tale, Bauver does battle with an unseen entity, preventing it from entering into our world, but must pay for this by bending their own halo.

Epic Destiny

Bauver’s ascension to the council of hidden stars is understood by most to be one of the final stages of this beings destiny. What comes next is hard to know, even for the Monster himself.

Wounds

  1. Hateful red spears jut out of Bauver’s fur, vibrating in place and stabbing at any who approach.
  2. Bauver’s fur folds light, making him appear vastly different from every single angle.
  3. False Gold pours from Bauver’s horns, infecting the crystals, creatures, and plantlife.
  4. The hidden stars begin replacing the true stars.
  5. Bauver takes on his ancient form—his horns grow sharp, his body swells, and his wings become mighty indeed.
  6. Driven to the edge, Bauver’s voice calls out into the wild for the first time, cracking mountains and causing landslides.
