Frequently Asked Questions

When do you cross out or fill in a clock section?

Generally marking a clock segment as a failure should happen whenever narratively appropriate - when a lead goes dry, when a resource is permanently out of reach, or when it’s unlikely that this avenue of investigation fails. Most often this will happen as a result of a failed roll, commonly on one of the end-of-arc moves such as Here’s What I Got and Make A Deal. As a good rule of thumb, any move that could result in a successful clock segment, can also result in a failed one.
